While the public viewed her as the most beautiful woman in the world and a major sex symbol, those who knew her realized she had a dangerous dependence. She began to use barbiturates to help deal with the stress of her Hollywood life, but the solution became an even larger problem, leading to addiction, depression, and multiple suicide attempts. She was just 36 years old when she was found dead of an overdose.


Rapper Eminem is extremely public about glitches in his attempts to recover from drug and alcohol addiction. The singer fought with substance abuse in 2002. In spite of concerns from friends and family, he did not enter rehab and chose to try and become clean on his own. He later visited rehab in August of 2005 to treat an addiction to sleep medication. He was forced to terminate part of his tour because of the addiction.

He has been clean ever since and enjoying huge accomplishments both personally and professionally.

The Black Eyed Peas star revealed that she was messed up from her addiction from ecstasy and crystal meth. She discovered the drugs made her paranoid about the police tracking her every move. She was able to quit after going to church and making a deal with God.

The industry has lost so many celebrities due to drug and alcohol addiction. Artists who died because of substance addiction leave thousands of fans in mourning, while there are also celebrities who were able to overcome their addiction a comprehensive addiction recovery program in a treatment facility.
